Shauna R. Cooper Biography

Before founding the Arts and Sciences Center, she served as a grants manager for one of the largest health systems in Northern Virginia and as a training and technical assistance provider with several national nonprofit organizations like the American Red Cross National Headquarters and the Black Women’s Health Imperative. These experiences and others have allowed her to travel the U.S., and its territories to advise nonprofit organizations (small and large) on strategies for increasing capital, improving capacity, and cultivating strategic partnerships.
In addition to nonprofit consulting, Shauna owns and operates a home and personal care goods business, in which her products retail on various marketplaces. She also serves on the board of directors with South Carolina Community Loan Fund, a nonprofit community development financial institution (CDFI) that provides capital to under-resourced and minority communities.
Shauna is a graduate of South Carolina State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, and a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she received a Master of Public Health degree in Health Promotion and Education.
Shauna resides in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, with her inquisitive, chatty, fact-checking, and geography- and history-loving nine-year-old son.
